Different Themes
« on: 25.09.09, 06:51:44 »
Hi, I used tinyportal for 1 year now, and as you may all know I came to PortaMX and SMF2. But there is a feature in TP that I wanted in PMX. Well theres 2, but the first one is the title.

1- I have created a theme of my own, and I also have created one for the portal. This way it looks better becuase In one theme It has the PMX copyright standing out, and the other one doesnt. Plus I wanted to make it look like if I was using something like the MKportal has. It shows 2 different navigations, and I like that for some reason.

2- I also taken this one out of TP. In TP, you can choose several layouts:
3 table layout
2 table layout
3 table layout with full width on top
2 table layout with full width on top
and others.
I wanted this feature so that I can make it look better than have all blocks going one direction.

to 1: PortaMx don't support different themes for Frontpage and other Pages in the current release.

to 2: PortaMx don't have a fixed layout for the frontpage.
The designg is given through the blockorder. For frontpage block you can also set the show methode if a singlepage block requested (hide, show before, show after).
If you need a complexe layout you can make that with html and or php blocks.

hi,
first of all: have you ever tried the pmx: full size Frontpage?
more flexibillity you won´t find on any other system.

one theme for all things is the best i can think on to create a good looking site. manage all theme related things in one place was often required by many users.
and you have a lot of own possibilitys in pmx.

so with pmx i have the ever most possibility to create a site without any hacking or modding right out of the box. the problem for most in the beginning is how to use all the things. and if some has the coding level then it´s very easy to tune-up the whole like you want.

but overall it is allways also a personal sight to a system, you will never find a system wich will match exactly to your needs.(you can not have a mercedes 500 for the price of a fiat 500).

if once also the full article systeme is ready then pmx is a blasting package.

Yeah, but in my old forums... I had it like this:
Welcome Message                              Ads
Ads   Comunitty Topics   New Game Releases
News

Footer Items (Affiliates)

Thats how I set it up in my old forum, I would hope that you can do that that mod sometime... Or please give me a php code for that so that It can be similar to the one on the News Box and I can set it up to divide...

Well, I have created 2 identicall themes. What Im saying is that they would look a bit different so that it looks as if the Frontpage was coded and the forum is just in a new format but integrated... Something like in MKPortal.
But if you cant, then okay...

But I have checked the MKP site and you were about to create a new version but, did it get canceled?

Update:
What do you mean full article system?

PortaMx has an open Block System, so each user with adequate knowledge of PHP OOP can create his own block types without changing anything on the developed code.
