I hope I'm posting this in the right place. :-\

I love all the new features that PortaMx has - thank you for working on integrating requests (like the poll - it's perfect!).

The only thing I'm a bit unclear on is how to work with the articles. I couldn't find anything in the forums or documentation.  It may be that I just need to play with it a bit more. I might be mistaken, but articles work a little differently from single pages, yes? I created categories and a test article easily enough, but I couldn't figure out how to make it so that other members could submit an article (although I set the permissions so they can do that) without me having to manually add it via the admin area.

In the meantime, I'm using SMF Articles as that seems to be most straightforward from both an admin and user perspective, but I'd rather use the PortaMx system to reduce the need for extraneous mods.

You can setup a SMF group as article "Writer" group. All member in this group can create new articles and can edit and delete his own. These articles MUST approve by a Admin or article "Moderator" group member. See access settings in the Settings Manager.

If you have articles, these CAN ordered by categories and subcategories. You can request a single article or a single category (include subcategories if you will that). These can be make with the url:
Article: domain/index.php?art=articlename
Category:  domain/index.php?cat=categoryname
Category and Subcategory:  domain/index.php?cat=categoryname;child=subcategoryname

Also you can create a static article / static category for the Frontpage in the Blocks Manager. Select the Frontpage and create a new block (Static Article or Static Category). Fill in the Settings and enable the block.
Thats all  ;)

Many help you find in the settings itself .. click on the round (i) symbol.
Categories and Blocks CAN have inherit access settings .. mean, the block access is given to the category or article.
So you can suppress the direct request of  a article/category if you give these NO access and set the access in the static block.
Hope this helps a little bit ...

You know what would help people? How about making links to the article show on the admin article list page.  That way they dont have to search for it.

I just dont think making people read a forum to find out how to get to a article they created is such a good idea. Features are great but ease of use is better.

I had the same problem when I first switches to Portamx and created single pages... It annoyed the crap out of me trying to find the link to the page after.

I can not find this spot where I can setup a member group as a "writer"
Where exactly in the membergroup settings is it located?

These settings you find on Admin - PortaMx - Settings Manager -  Access settings.
Select the Membergroup(s) on Membergroups they can create and write articles

Member in this group then have a link in the Profile dropdown ...
