Can I use Photoswipe?
« on: 27.04.12, 07:58:21 »
I'm very interested in upgrading my forum to SMF 2, ditching my current portal CMS (Joomla) and using Portamx.

One thing I want to do is use Photoswipe instead of Highslide as the former is much more mobile-friendly. Is this possible with PortaMx?

I think it's no problem to use that for customer code.
PortaMx itself use Highslide for images the used in the forum and the blocks and it's to much to change that all for Photoswipe.
Also Photoswipe can't handle normal html code as Highslide can do ...

Sorry, I don't understand your reply. What do you mean by customer code? If highslide is baked into portamx as you describe I don't see how you can use it.

Photoswipe can use html integration and is far more mobile-friendly, have a look at my use of it here: http://m.amoc.org

I mean a Gallery, PortaMx php, script or html blocks as example ...
For PortaMx itself we use Highslide for attached images or images in the posts and this works also perfect with mobile devices as you can see here if you connect our site with a mobile device.
We use also Highslide for shorten posts to show the full post in a Highslide view. That is not possible with Photoswipe ...

I'm looking at it in the mobile portal. It doesn't look good. I see your point about shortened versions but highslide isn't the optimum solution for that.

Still, good to know I'm not restricted to highslide.

Hmm, that's a worry.

How does the mobile version work with Advanced Gallery? I expect it would given the Genesis of the theme

Great. Anyone know how to get AEVA Media to work with Photoswipe instead of Highslide?
