Hi There,

With the help of Feline, I was able to start a test drive with PortaMX yesterday.

At first look it seemed really promising and seems to achieve most of our needs that we will like to introduce in my site in the coming future.

While installing the software I had a problem and Feline got into it and said SEO4SMF was the problem and after uninstallation of the mod,  PortaMX was able to install.

I have to say that oneway or other the SEO4SMF has to be there in the future since over 60.000 indexes are placed in Google. Does anybody have and idea why there is a compatibility issue ?

I have looked for but I couldnt get the idea if there is Article section or not. Been using TP for over 2 years we have put several articles and we would like to continue.

And here comes the most important issue. Is there Turkish ( for our site Turkish-UTF8 ) translation ?

First, that Mod is't longer supported, the author gives up long time ago.
So, I can't test that mod, but I see that SEO4SMF have a functionname as we use in PortaMx. That don't work.

In the current version PortaMx we have only Single pages. These pages you can combine with catnames (cat.page). If you request a cat (yoururl/index.php?cat.) then all pages shown they starts with cat.
A fully categorie / article system (and mutch more) is planned for a future release.

Currently we have no turkish translation, but you can make one. More info you find at this topic:

Hi Fel,

I know the mod is not supported by the original author anymore ( at least for the moment ) but with authors's permission someone has updated it for SMF 2.0 RC2 ( I can provide the link in case you require, or you can get it from Packages folder as you still have ftp). So we can practically say, it is supported.

If you can say which function is overlapping, I can request the author for a change

I know developers dont like giving timelines but when do you think the earliest an article system will be runninf on PortaMX ?

For the Turkish translation, I will start and try to do it as I find time.

SEO4SMF has a default problem with uninstall / reinstall. Some settings within db needs to be cleaned before reinstalling. Uninstall design was not very well made.
I will ask the author if it can be renamed.

Fel,

It seems the function was no more used by the mod and after deleting the function unhtmlentities, I was able to install both on test site.

All seems to work fine now.

Is there a users' manual for PortaMX ? I cant find out how to make a post a frontpage article.

No, we don't have a manual.
To create new blocks, go to PortaMx Admin - Blocks manager.
On the panel overwiev you see a small + icon at the right side on each panel. Click on it to create a new block in the panel.
In the Block edit function you can select the blocktype.
Now fill in what you want, set the access rights, the other setting (if you need) and save it.
In the overview you have to enable the block, so you can see it.

Play around with all the function and find out what this do...  ;)
Each Icon in the block manager have a tooltip .. move the mouse over the icon and you can read a short description.

Thx Feline,

I could get all you have mentioned as I am familiar with portals but what I am looking for is assigning a topic as a frontpage article.

I think it was in one of the portals, when you were within a topic there was an option like Assign .. Near Reply, Notify etc.

For posts and topics we have the default blocks boardnews and newposts.
If you need other parts from the forum, you must write your own code in a php block.
