v0.957+SMF 2-RC1.1 to v0.971+SMF2-RC2 ?

Hello folks,

I have a perfectly good working v0.957+SMF 2-RC1.1 and would like to upgrade to the latest PortaMx plus SMF but I'm not an experienced site admin and am worried that I'll break it.  These are my current mods: Downloads System 1.1.5.1 (SMFHacks), PortaMx 0.957r2, SMF Media Gallery 1.5.5, SMF Articles 1.0.1.8 and SMF 2.0 RC1.1 that I had upgraded from version 1 via an update.

I tried to upgrade by following the installation directions for the latest PortaMx version telling me to uninstall PortaMx, but when I tried, it failed reporting that there is no uninstaller.  So I can't uninstall the portal which means that I can't upgrade SMF.  Now because I've encountered these issues, I'm concerned that eventually something will go horribly wrong.

I'd so gratefully appreciate any advice regarding the following:
  • How can I unstall PortaMx so I can upgrade SMF?
  • If I ever manage to successfully upgrade PortaMx and SMF, if I unstall the other mods, will I lose all the data when I reinstall them or install upgrades to them?
My apologies if some of these do not belong in this forum, but I couldn't think of any other single place I could post these, which are all related to each other (I think)

Before doing anything, backup your database and files so that even if you break things you can roll back..

Yes .. backup the database, then make a large update for SMF2.
Tthe you can install Portamx .. the database will be converted to the newer one.
If that works, you can make the last upgrade to 0.971-2

Thanks very much for the information  O0 - just to be sure I'm understanding correctly, after I upgrade to SMF2, I should then install 0.971 followed by 0.971-2 - correct?

To be honest at this stage I would wait for RC3. It will save you one upgrade. ;)

Hi Fel,
When I try to uninstall PortaMx 0.957r2 , I get this error message:

This package cannot be uninstalled, because there is no uninstaller!

Please contact the mod author for more information.

Do you have suggestions for what I might do?

You can install/uninstall this package only on a SMF 2.0 RC1 ..
